Excuse me but why are we completely skipping over the fact that she's a terf here? It doesn't matter if people critiquing her art is unjustified and that her art is thought provoking (which I would agree with) because she is literally a terf. We shouldn't give her a platform, at all. We shouldn't be promoting her content, at all. And the art community as a whole most certainly DOES NOT and SHOULD NOT "stand behind her" because, again, she is a TERF. People like her, who wish for the discrimination and by extension eradiction of an entire, vulnerable group of people, do not deserve to be afforded any semblence of respect or acknowledgement for their art, thoughts and worldview.

I don’t understand how people are not just practicing the style after seeing the generated images. We have the ability to generate our own references but the mass community is just abusing it. It’s so annoying. There must be an image scanner like copy leaks that can scan it immediately after posting. Ai should be used to scan for ai.

YES. THIS. This even happened to me the other week! To cope with my stress this year I have been hand picking photo references of cats from my friends and merging them into weird beasts, then using the mash up of references to create and draw a weird angelic cat ... things. Each stroke of the digital brush has been good for me, mentally. I don't have to care about being anatomically perfect, I just get to shut off and be weird. So when I shared one, I got a message claiming it was "AI slopfest :C." I don't get many comments and that's fine, it's a hobby and I'm not in "the game" for views or money, but the fact that the new default is to assume it was the leftover "failed art" generated by an AI trained on someone elses work... that stings a little. You can't have weird art or certain styles, just "failed AI prompts" because of the proliferation of scammers/content farmers stealing from already existing artists/styles... UGH I understand the commentor's disdain for AI and i agree so I didn't "go for them" or anything (and even said for no one to comment back), but it does make me worry about people who DO want to break into making a living with art, or a niche genre that's now populated with stolen and or generated art...

Can't blame people for being skeptical these days when every other piece that's allowed to be posted on social media is AI or art reposts and lie about it. It's worse when these so-called "artists" ae heavily pushed by the shitty algorithm. It sucks when people don't believe genuine artists who are then forced to show their progressive (thus bombarding my page with shitty short form vieos/reels instead of still pictures) but social media is mostly to blame for this shit.

Adult art has always been on Devianart...that isn't new Was there well before I joined and I am a 15 year old veteran...What happened to D.A. was a combo of the following D.A. was bought by Wix....and so slowly ceased to be run as an art site for Professional and starting artists and morphed into a Corporate Division where the focus was on Return on Investment...that is..making money I remember the talk about terms of use being changed to give Wix a non exclusive global licence to reproduce art on the site, display it, use it in promotions etc...this was quickly denied/rolled back when the community rose together in collective outrage The Eclipse roll out - not a change to the old D.A. site but a transition into the Wix IT ecosystem. Much loved features of old D.A. went away, like lots of options for page customization, and were not replace or replaced quickly enough. A lot of functionality, mentioned in the other comments, disappeared completely...and this continues to this day. D.A. is making itself less user welcoming, less customizable and less responsive to its users needs all in the service of reducing the old Dev team or removing them completely and handing site development over to the existing Wix teams - thereby cutting costs The A.I. Fiasco - this is where a lot of pros simply left. The idea that D.A. automatically opted everyone in makes sense when you understand that D.A. did not develop their own AI they used some variant of SD which the licensed. And they probably allowed at least an initial scrape of ALL of their content without informing their users as part of the set up. They rolled it back but it was too late...the Pros left in droves to protect their art (also too late) and the site took a huge PR hit in the Art community. Whoever though this was a winning idea should be named and fired immediately, in my opinion, because they burned to the ground decades of good will toward D.A. overnight A.I. art - D.A. is now full of it...this is meant to be a site for artists who crate their own works through their own skills, or it was, not large amounts of uploads are made be generative AI users. What's more in their push to reap financial returns D.A. actively advertises its top sellers - most of whom use A.I. - on the page and so drives even more people away to a site where, lets call it the more traditional means of making art, are appreciated, and more of those who remain to A.I. art to try make money while the fad lasts All of those old tie ins and supports you mentioned ...I don't even see a lot of them anymore - certainly not the cash prizes And linked to A.I. art - the monetization...sell exclusives, sell adoptables, subscriptions, paid premium galleries - There was always monetization on D.A. , that isn't new, but the degree to which it is being pushed and promoted is and ofc D.A. (or Wix) gets a cut of every transaction - its like the worst of live service games - micro-transactions are everywhere D.A. won't die but it could become a ghost of its former self filled with A.I. art and pay walls and that means as a community art site it will be dead, it just won't know it...

i guess it is time to go back to traditional mediums and paint physical paintings, that way no one can cause it to be the Ai creations..

Its scary how echo chamber like these AI art people are. There is a whole pro AI subreddit that constantly dunks on people for having their jobs and livelihoods held in question. Its sad, they preach how people "dont want change" and "AI is the future, it HELPS us" yet so many people are suffering from it already. OF COURSE humans are going to exploit AI, we take the easy convenient (most importantly cheap) way out of most things, yet we are too stupid to have the forsight to realize that our actions have consequences.

Why don't people just learn to draw? Just practice for 10 minutes and learn and you will get the result you want. I literally learn in a few months I am able to draw relatively good. Not amazing. BUt I'm proud at what I can do.

I think AI is garnering a very curious challenge in many aspects of our world. I think we need to find a way to integrate it into our toolkit and ensure that it is not misused, but we still consider the possibilities that it could bring to creativity. At some point in time, people considered digital art to not be considered "real art" as it lacked many of the challenges that come with physical art, yet it allowed us to break past the restrictions of physical mediums. I absolutely see the challenge that exists with AI art, as it can be touted as one's personal creation, however, I believe AI holds the door for increasing our creative abilities further.

Although I don't condone people posting AI generated images and passing them off as their own hard work I also don't see the problem if they're clearly putting it in their bios or even hashtagging it as AI generated. Yes they're still taking the source material from somewhere but I think that's less of an issue with the person behind the prompts (as long as they're clearly labeling it as AI) and more of an issue with the AI machines taking art from real artists without consent

The jelly art style is cute. But gosh it gives me a sensory overload. But I am neutral about it to be honest I’d ask how they did it and I feel the jelly art style just expresses their passion and dedication with art. The way someone draws says what type of person they are. If you draw cartoonish you are a silly goober who like having fun. If you draw jelly art to me you are very passionate and hard working when it comes to art. But I hate that people who try to learn an art style and are called a tracer is so mean. But actual tracing is really bad.
